Preparation Instructions:
This is the famous butterscotch cookies recipe that Cindy McCain published. To begin you will first need to preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, or 190 degrees Celsius. Next take out a large mixing bowl and add in the butter and both the white and brown sugar. Using a mixing spoon, vigorously whip these initial ingredients together until you have a light and fluffy cream. Next add in the eggs and vanilla extract, steadily stirring until the batter is even and consistent. Moving forward, next take out a medium size mixing bowl and add in the all purpose flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and kosher salt. Once this second batch of ingredients is well mixed, slowly stir it into the first bowl containing the sugar butter mixture. Once a firm cookie dough begins to form, pour in the rolled oats and butterscotch chips. At this point you will want to vigorously stir the ingredients together until the oats and butterscotch chips are evenly distributed throughout the dough. You are now ready to begin baking, so take out a large cookie sheet and grease it well. You can now start placing small spoonfuls of the dough onto the baking sheet. Once the sheet is full, slide it into the oven to bake for ten minutes, or until the cookies begin to turn golden. Let the cookies cool for roughly five minutes on a wire rack, and then serve them warm with a tall glass of cold milk.
